How to actually go
Base yourself in Wakayama City and take the JR Kisei (Kinokuni) Line: Wakayama Station → Yuasa Station is 44–46 min for ¥680 with no transfer (confirmed 2026-07-19). Note it is JR Wakayama Station, not Wakayamashi Station. Yuasa also fits en route between Koyasan and Shirahama.
- Walking route: Yuasa Station → preserved merchant district → around Kakuchō → back to the station, doable as a half-day plan on foot.
- Plan for irregular hours: these are small family-run breweries and opening hours are irregular — Kakuchō's museum requires a reservation. Confirm the day you plan to visit rather than assuming fixed hours.
